David Lush

David gained a Masters degree (Distinction) in Creative Practice at the University of Cumbria in 2021.
Observations of animal behaviour in the natural landscape inspire relief prints such as the gannet series.

Alternative materials are used for print blocks to create different textures representing rock, feathers or hair. David usually produces very small print runs of 5 or 6 images as each one is uniquely modified by the addition of gouache and ink.

Using a different technique David creates large photographic negatives to make contact prints using the Cyanotype process. These are usually animal or human portraits. In some areas the original blueprint is left untouched whilst other areas are selectively worked into using oil based pencil. A variety of other pigments including ink, wax pastel, gouache and even Tipp-Ex are used in order to fulfil the artist’s vision.
