Jack Fawdry Tatham

Jack's artwork revolves around the kinship between humans and the natural world, combining representational drawings from life with my imagination and memories of being in nature.

The main element of Jack's practice is printmaking, predominantly intaglio, but in recent years he has embarked on large Collagraphs, drawing outdoors directly from the landscape in a bid to capture the magic and aura of a place.

When discussing his work, Jack says 'I work with the traditional craft of printmaking because of its strong associations with the past, I want my work to have a primeval, timeless resonance. People have been printing this way for hundreds of years and the techniques are largely unchanged. It is important to me to keep these techniques alive in the modern world. I believe that the process of turning an observational drawing into an etching adds a richness and depth to what otherwise may have only existed as a sketch'.
