Kirsten Gilder

Kirsten is a printmaker with a playful approach to screen printing, which gives her work its unique style by communicating through layers of lines, shapes, and colours. Her designs are created from marks and overprinted textures that she cuts up and collages back together to form abstract compositions, prints, patterns, and textiles.

Whilst Kirsten's works are screen prints, she uses mono print, linocut and collage techniques at the developmental stages to create spontaneous and expressive marks, textures and colours that she transfers to screen.

Drawing inspiration from her local landscape and the visible features of her everyday life, Kirsten focuses on structural and linear repetition. Her method of screen printing allows her the freedom to experiment, modify, and introduce new elements during her creative process, adding a distinct character to her work.
